Rudder FFA officers designed and led a “Dive into the Sea of Blue and Gold” themed leadership camp specifically for Greenhand members. Through interactive workshops, team-building activities, and hands-on experiences, new members learned about FFA opportunities, traditions, events, and ways to become involved. The camp helped Greenhands build confidence, develop leadership skills, and establish connections with other members while encouraging them to take an active role in Rudder FFA.

Rudder FFA LDE Showcase – The Rudder FFA LDE Showcase provides members with an opportunity to showcase their talents and progress while developing confidence, self-awareness, communication, and teamwork skills. Through preparation and performance, students set goals, recognize their strengths, and build the confidence needed to grow both personally and within FFA. These experiences encourage members to challenge themselves and work toward continued growth throughout the semester.

Bryan ISD CTE Pathway Presentation – Rudder FFA officers presented Agricultural, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) CTE pathway information to students in AFNR classes, highlighting opportunities for continued education and career development. Through these presentations, students explored career pathways, learned about educational opportunities, and gained a better understanding of how CTE programs can prepare them for future success.

KBTX Food for Families Food Drive – Rudder FFA members demonstrate citizenship by collecting and donating shelf-stable food and monetary contributions to support families and individuals facing hunger in the Brazos Valley. Members help collect and deliver donations before the holiday season, giving back to the community and encouraging others to participate in addressing local needs.

Open for Business – Rudder FFA members gain real-world business and entrepreneurial experience while providing products and services to the community. Agriculture Mechanics students design, build, and sell farm equipment, BBQ pits, and gates, while Floral Design students create and deliver arrangements through the Floral of the Month membership. These opportunities develop career-ready skills while supporting local customers and showcasing the value of agricultural education.

Soil and Water Conservation Education and Advocacy – During a Rudder FFA meeting, an FFA officer presented a speech on soil and water conservation to educate members about the importance of protecting natural resources. The activity promoted environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and responsible resource management while encouraging members to make informed choices that reduce environmental impact and support the future of agriculture.

Ag Breakfast – Rudder FFA members strengthen relationships with agricultural industry stakeholders by attending the annual Brazos County Ag Breakfast. Members connect with local farmers, ranchers, agricultural leaders, and industry partners, gaining valuable insight into the agriculture industry while developing professional networking skills. This experience strengthens community partnerships and helps students build connections with professionals who support the future of agriculture.

Rudder FFA members participate in AGVENTURE by educating visitors about agriculture, livestock, and the importance of agriculture in everyday life. Members serve as presenters and interact with visiting students through demonstrations. This experience allows FFA members to develop leadership, communication, public speaking, and agricultural education skills while promoting awareness of agriculture in the community.

Ag Literacy Week – Rudder FFA members visit local elementary schools to participate in Texas Farm Bureau’s Ag Literacy Week. Members educate younger students about how food, fiber, and fuel are produced and used in everyday life. Through hands-on learning and conversations, FFA members help build agricultural awareness, encourage appreciation for farmers and ranchers, and strengthen the connection between agriculture and the community.

Davala CTE Day – Rudder FFA members actively recruit future students by visiting middle school students and promoting the opportunities available through agricultural education and Rudder FFA. Members share their personal experiences, favorite activities, and accomplishments to give prospective students an inside look at what they can experience as FFA members. By connecting directly with younger students and answering their questions, current members encourage them to enroll in the agricultural education program and become future members of Rudder FFA.

Strengthening Agriculture - Safety

Fire Extinguisher Safety Course – The Bryan Fire Department provided Rudder FFA students with hands-on instruction on proper fire extinguisher use, fire response, and prevention. Students learned how to safely respond to small fires and take appropriate action to help prevent them from spreading. This training strengthens students’ workplace and agricultural safety knowledge while preparing them to respond responsibly to potential emergencies.

BBQ Cookoff – Rudder FFA officers organize the annual BBQ Cookoff to strengthen the partnership between Rudder FFA and the Rudder FFA Booster Club while increasing support for the chapter. School clubs and organizations are invited to form teams and compete, creating an opportunity for groups across campus to come together, build relationships, and show their support for FFA. The event also encourages Booster Club involvement and strengthens the network of supporters surrounding Rudder FFA.
